commentsCommenting on items

Leave internal notes on individual items to track damages, maintenance updates, or anything your team needs to know — and see the full comment history at a glance.

How to Leave a Comment

1

Go to Inventory → Manage.

2

Find the item group you need and expand it to see individual items.

3

Click the Actions menu on the item you want to comment on.

4

Select Comment.

5

A drawer opens on the right side of your screen. Type your note, apply any formatting (bold, italic, lists), and submit.

That's it — your comment is saved and visible to everyone in your organization.

What You'll See in the Comment Drawer

The comment drawer isn't just a text box. When you open it, you get a full history of everything that's happened with that item:

  • Previous comments from you and other users in your organization, displayed in chronological order

  • Rentals and expenses summary — a quick snapshot of how many times the item has been rented and total expenses logged against it

  • Rich text support — format your comments with bold, italic, bullet lists, and numbered lists to keep notes organized

When to Use Comments

Comments work best as a running log of important updates about a specific item. Here are a few examples:

  • Damage reports — "Scratch on the left panel noticed after return from client on 12.03. See photos in the damage report."

  • Maintenance notes — "Replaced battery pack. Next scheduled check: July 2025."

  • Client-specific observations — "Client requested extra padding for transport. Add bubble wrap before next delivery."

  • Condition updates — "Item cleaned and reconditioned. Ready for next rental."

  • Internal flags — "Do not rent out until manager approval — pending inspection."

💡 Tip: Think of comments as the item's diary. Anything a teammate might need to know before renting this item out — put it here.

Who Can See Comments?

Every user in your organization can view and add comments on any item. This makes comments a shared knowledge base for your team, so everyone stays informed about item condition and history without needing to ask around.
